What to Expect in Worship
  • Community Prayer – We lift our joys and concerns together.
  • Time for the Child in Us All – Everyone, regardless of age, is invited to engage their imagination as we open ourselves to God's message for us all.
  • Sermon – A thoughtful, 15–20 minute message from one of our co-pastors.
  • Music – Communal hymns accompanied by the majestic Swift Memorial Organ or the Steinway piano. On the first Sunday of each month, worship swings with our Jazz Trio.
  • Communion - On the 2nd Sunday of each month, worshippers partake in Communion.  You don’t have to be a member or even a Presbyterian to share in the Lord’s Supper.
Who We Are

Fort Street is a PCUSA Christian community rooted in God’s love and committed to justice, inclusion, and thoughtful faith. Shaped by a long history in downtown Detroit, we gather to worship, ask honest questions, and practice caring for one another and our neighbors.

Children & Families

Children are welcome and celebrated at Fort Street. Kids begin worship in the sanctuary, where their presence and energy are part of our shared life together.
Each Sunday includes Time for the Child in Us All where we have fun as a community and play a game or think aloud together about something connected to our day-to-day living. This is followed by the option for nursery care (ages 0–3), Sunday School, or staying in worship with family. All volunteers are background-checked.
