Support for Open Door
Each meal costs approximately $1.50. We receive much of our food from Forgotten Harvest and, also, purchase through Gleaners Food Bank in Detroit. Your financial support for this vital ministry allows us to provide essential services to those in need and to expand our resources. To contact Open Door, email the Director, Trish Hubbell, at email@example.com, or call 313-961-4533, Ext. 107.
New health and wellness initiative needs community support!
Detroiters in the Garden (DIG)
A Community Health and Wellness initiative for our downtown neighbors! DIG is designed to educate and inspire individuals to prepare and eat healthy, fresh food through hands-on experiential learning at Lafayette Greens garden (a few blocks from the church). Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to plant, nurture, and harvest a bed of vegetables and herbs throughout the growing season.
Open Door currently provides food boxes to several senior citizens who reside close to the park. They will be encouraged to participate in the variety of wellness activities hosted at Lafayette Greens. Open Door is fundraising to provide health and wellness workshops on nutrition, healthy eating, food budgeting, and meal planning. Each workshop costs $180 to prepare and facilitate. Any and all donations are welcome to help support this new initiative! Cooking demonstrations and a community meal will be hosted at Fort Street Presbyterian Church.
